StoryTime Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 11, 2026

The short version: your recordings belong to your family. There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics, and your data is never sold or shared.

Who we are

StoryTime is made by Daniel Kunz, an independent developer. For anything privacy-related, contact daniel.alexander.kunz@gmail.com.

What we collect

We do not collect your location, contacts, browsing data, advertising identifiers, or any analytics.

Where your data lives

Recordings and family details are stored on Supabase servers in the European Union (Zurich, Switzerland), encrypted in transit and at rest. Played recordings are also cached on your device so they load faster.

Who can hear your recordings

Only devices that have joined your family space using your family code. Treat the code like a house key and share it only with family. We never listen to, analyze, or share your recordings; technical access exists solely to operate the service.

Children

StoryTime is designed for parents, grandparents, and other adult family members to record and play stories. Children may listen on a parent's device; children never have their own accounts or devices in the app.

Adult family members can optionally add a child's first name or nickname so stories can be recorded for that child. This is the only information about a child we store — kept deliberately minimal by design: no photos, no birthdates, no ages. It is visible only inside your family, is entered and controlled by the adults, and any family member can remove a child's profile at any time (recordings stay; they just lose the "for" tag).

Microphone access

The microphone is used only while you are actively recording a story, and recordings are only uploaded when you tap “Share with family”. A discarded recording never leaves your device.

Deleting your data

You can also email us to request deletion of anything connected to your family.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and similar laws you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data at any time by emailing daniel.alexander.kunz@gmail.com. Since we store no email addresses or real identities, please contact us from within your family and include your family code so we can locate your data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the updated version will appear here and in the app, with a new “last updated” date.
